The tasks an Operator, Rack Wiring (Telephone Equipment Mfg.) is expected to perform include:
Assembling and wiring selector racks, relay set racks etc., used in telephone exchange
Reading instruction card and specification sheets
Assembling all the components such as cable brackets, tag block bracket, shelf jacks, relays, fuse panels, buzz bars etc.
Mounting cables on rack
Connecting wires to tag block according to specified colour code
Soldering contacts, squared wiring formation and ties
Lacing cables with waxed card using pliers, screw drivers, soldering iron etc.
Competent in handling wires, cables, cords multi-colour coded cables etc.
Well-versed in electrical safety measures and fire safety measures
Proficient in using pliers, spanners, screw driver and other hand tools
Efficient in fitting and soldering sub-assemblies securely
Competent in selecting appropriate types of electronic components
?Skilled in using soldering machine
