Minimum ITI Diploma

Minimum experience of 2-4 years in a relevant field

The tasks a Panman, Sugar is expected to perform include:

Operating the vacuum pans to further boil the syrup that is received from the evaporators

Ensuring that boiling is done till the syrup has crystallized to a proper point

Creating a vacuum in the pan by a steam ejector

Operating the intake valve to fill the pan to the proper level with syrup from the evaporators

Opening the exhaust or live steam valve to let the pan's hot steam boil the syrup

Achieving the required density of the syrup that runs into the massacuite

Monitoring the temperature, pressure gauge, etc. so as to maintain the correct boiling pressure

Examining the sample periodically on a clean glass slide so as to check visually against light and also by touch

Determining if crystals have been formed as per the requirement desired

Adding more water to thin juice or syrup and re-boiling it, if necessary so as to make the specific type of massacuite

Handling the levers and valves to break the vacuum and to shut down the steam

Opening the slide valve to drop massacuite into the crystallisers below

Distributing or transferring the syrup containing grains to other pans as required for the making of specific type of massacuite

Cleaning the pan with steam

Skilled in taking time, temperature, pressure and volume readings

Proficient in making massacuite of a specified type

Skilled in maintaining the temperature, pressure gauge, etc.

Equipped in taking samples and checking it to specifications

Skilled in operating equipment like steam injectors, etc.

Knowledge of the different qualities of sugar and its parameters

Basic knowledge of the process of sugar manufacturing

Equipped in performing routine maintenance tasks

India is the largest consumer of sugar in the world and consumes around 16 million tons of sugar per annum. The Indian Sugar Industry has total turnover of INR 500 billion per annum and contributes almost INR 22.5 billion to central and state exchequer as tax and excise duty every year according to the sources of Ministry of Food and Government of India.

With all these figures in consideration it is safe to say that the demand for a Panman, Sugar will surely increase in the coming years.
