Minimum Diploma in Textile

Minimum 1 year of experience in a relevant field

The tasks a Waterproofer, Textile is expected to perform include:

Treating textiles with chemicals (other than rubber) to make them water resistant

Filling the container with a chemical solution and controlling its temperature

Feeding lengths of material into rollers and joining the ends together

Passing the material, through rollers, into the solution until it is impregnated

Removing folds and creases, if any

Cleaning the equipment and maintaining them in working order

Combining the dyeing process with waterproofing

Knowledge of the dyeing and waterproofing process

Skilled in cleaning and servicing the machine

Knowledge of criticality of temperature on the final product

Knowledge of the entire process of waterproofing

Textile & Handloom Industry in India

India?s textiles sector is one of the mainstays of the national economy. It is also one of the largest contributing sectors of India?s exports contributing 11 per cent to the country?s total exports basket. The textiles industry is labor intensive and is one of the largest employers. The industry realized export earnings worth US$ 41.57 billion in 2013-14. The Indian textiles industry, currently estimated at around USD 108 billion, is expected to reach USD 141 billion by 2021. The Indian government has come up with a number of export promotion policies for the textiles sector. It has also allowed 100 per cent FDI in the Indian textiles sector under the automatic route.

India is the second largest producer of textiles and garments in the world. The Indian textiles and apparel industry is expected to grow to a size of USD 223 billion by 2021. The industry (including dyed and printed) attracted foreign direct investment (FDI) worth INR 6,710.94 crore (US$ 1.11 billion) from April 2000 to February 2014. This shows that in coming decades a boom can be expected in the sector with immense demand for trained professionals. Therefore, the career of a Waterproofer, Textile has a bright future and opportunities are only going to rise in the coming years.
