Previous relevant work experience

The tasks a Upholsterer, Orthopaedic Appliances, is expected to perform include: Installing, repairing and replacing upholstery of wheeled chairs

Making and repairing other appliances for physically handicapped persons

Receiving directions regarding type of upholstery or repair work to be done

Cutting and fitting cotton, rubber foam moss, other padding materials, rexin, leather, etc.Cutting and tacking hessian cloth

Setting padding and fastening it in position

Measuring and cutting covering material and tacking it in position

Trimming excess materials Concealing edges by tacking leather or rexin tape

Replacing or repairing raw hide covering of artificial limbs

Knowledge of stitching fabrics with tape

Well versed with reshaping any portion not fitted properly

Competent with cutting, sewing and measuring skills

Knowledge of how to use and care for equipment Ability to renew upholstery of wheeled chairs and orthopaedic appliances

Dexterity in repairing shoes for deformed feet

Orthopaedic appliance companies usually work for 5/6 days a week and 8/9 hours everyday. This may vary from company to company Shift system maybe available

For candidates with up to 2 years of experience - INR 7,500 to INR 10,500 per month

For candidates with 2 to 5 years of experience ? INR 10,500 to INR 12,500 per month

For candidates with over 5 years of experience ? INR 12,500 to INR 16,000 per month
