Strategic Electronics Market in IndiaThe Government feels that it is desirable to focus on production in the strategic electronics sector to ensure acquisition of the state-of-the-art technology. The sector is increasingly facing problems in attracting and retaining talent. There is also a trend towards outsourcing/sub-contracting and privatisation. At the national level, various research institutions are developing strategic systems and public sector undertakings and some private agencies are contributing towards production. Estimated production of this sector in 2008-09 was Rs. 68 billion.Rapid advances in strategic electronics have radically changed the course of the industry and business. With the government all set to provide hitherto unbelievable licences, this industry is expected to be a minefield for entrepreneurs. According to the "Human Resource and Skill Requirements in the Electronics & IT Hardware Sector (2022)" report, the Strategic Electronics sector has the potential to grow at a Compounded Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of about 20% till 2022, which is going to be higher than the GDP in India.
