Certified training for Assistant Bar Bender & Fixer (programme aligned to CON/Q 0202 released by Construction Skill Development Council)

The tasks an Assistant Bar Bender & Fixer Level-2 is expected to perform include:

Handling and storing reinforcement material

Assisting with bar bending schedule and drawings

Erecting and dismantling 3.6 metere temporary scaffoldings

Identifying and using various stirrups and crank/shear bars

Fabricating reinforcement in lintels, slabs, projections, cages for columns and bases

Fabricating beam reinforcements with and without shear bar

Performing work under the health, safety and environmental regulations

Expertise in the specification and use of cutting and bending tools, detailing of rings, links and hooks

Understanding of permissible stacking heights, sizing, sorting, identification and workplace procedures and policies

Understanding of the site layout, obstacles, overhead wire and cable positioning during shifting

Knowledge of north direction, reinforcement specifications for main bars and distributors Knowledge of Indian standard specification and sequence of fabrication for slab, lintel, column & footing and beam reinforcement

Knowledge and understanding of physical properties of binding wire, use of tie bars and tolerance limit for dimensional checking

Knowledge of lap length, lapping position and placing of stirrups

Knowledge of scale used in drawing, elevation, plan and sectional drawing

Knowledge of requirement cover, difference between clear cover and effective cover

Functional knowledge of column and footing, classification and difference between long and short column and pedestal

Understanding of how to identify, select and use basic dressing material, first aid and PPEs

Knowledge of accident reporting, health, safety and evacuation procedures
