The tasks a Bricklayer, Construction is expected to perform include:

Laying bricks with mortar, and other construction material to construct and repair building-walls, arches, chimneys, floors, pillars and other structures

Directing labourers to prepare mortar in required proportions

Watering the brick structure

Spreading mortar by trowel over foundation or laid bricks and laying bricks by hand in horizontal rows or designs and shapes as per approved specification

Taping bricks with trowel to embed them firmly in mortar and ensuring correct vertical and horizontal alignment of brick setting by sight or with string and plumb bob

Closing gaps in between the bricks by filling with half bricks and mortar and by tapping with trowel

Fixing wooden frames, laying lime concrete over roofing and setting girders in position

Dismantling masonry for reconstruction or facility of work

Carrying out plastering, decoration pointing and repair work

Erecting scaffolding for construction work

Knowledge of construction equipment and tools, brick layering Knowledge about availability, quality and appropriate use of construction materials Knowledge of selecting chisels, pneumatic or surfacing tools and determining sequence of use

Ability to use scribes or chalk and measuring instruments

Competent in handling construction related equipment - accurately

Competent in drilling holes and grooves Knowledgeable about safety measures at work

Health risks include exposure to heavy instruments, hostile temperatures, sharp chisels, stones, bricks, cement and other construction materials

For candidates with up to 2 years of experience INR 4,000 to INR 5000 per month

For candidates with 2 to 5 years of experience INR 5,000 to INR 6,000 per month

For candidates with over 5 years of experience INR 6,000 to INR 8,000 per month
