The tasks a Bill Processing Clerk is expected to perform include:
Operating machines that automatically perform mathematical processes
Operating special billing machines to prepare bills,statements and operating bookkeeping machines
Balancing and reconciling batch control totals with source documents or computer listings in order to locate errors, encode correct amounts or prepare correction records
Computing monies due
Computing payroll and retirement amounts
Encoding and adding amounts of transaction documents
Entering all information needed for bill generation into the machine,
Observing operation of sorters to locate documents that machines cannot read
Sending completed bills to billing clerks for information verification
Transcribing data from office records, using specified forms, billing machines and transcribing machines
Proficiency in computer operations
Well versed with typing or shorthand
Proficiency in handling cash, treasury, taxes, etc. Knowledge of operation monitoring
Ability to use database user interface and query software, network monitoring software, object- or component-oriented software and operating system software
