The tasks an Inspector, Excise is expected to perform include:

Detecting unauthorised production, smuggling, sale and use of dutiable goods

Assessing the excise duty to be laved

Surveying the plant producing dutiable goods for verification at various stages of manufacture

Visiting the storeroom for verification of final products with manufacturers account

Checking the weight or counting number of packages of excisable commodities

Verifying the daily production with factory accounts relating to raw materials and final products

Maintaining the records regarding production of commodities, levy of excise duties, permits for clearance of commodities from factories, etc., as required

Skilled in detecting unauthorised production, smuggling, sale and use of dutiable goods

Ability to properly assess the excise duty that are to be laved

Ability to verify various stages of manufacturing

Knowledge of various excise laws and regulations

Knowledge of different commodities under the excise law
