Market Trend of the Legal Industry in India

India's legal services industry is growing at a rate of about 40% per annum. India?s legal profession is the world?s second largest, with more than 600,000 lawyers in more than 500 legal practices nationwide. In 2010, the total value of the Indian legal market was estimated to be approximately US $1.25 billion. Indian law firms are looking beyond national borders, taking part in major international deals and working out arrangements for sustained work through referral and best-friend arrangements with international law firms.

The legal profession is a fast growing profession. In these days of globalization and liberalization, it is likely to get further momentum as more lawyers would be required to handle cases arising out of international trade. Persons holding law degrees or other higher legal qualifications have ample employment opportunities in the private as well as public sector. Considering these figures it is safe to say that the demand for Government Advocate is there in the present and will also be there in the coming years.
