The tasks a Data Recovery Planner is expected to perform include:

Developing,coordinatingandimplementingtestplantocontinueestablishment of dataprocessingactivitiesatoff-sitelocationincaseofemergency,suchasfire,etc.

Establishing priority of data processing activities according to importance to business

Determining hardware, software, data files, safe storage facilities and other resources required

Identifying the personnel needed to implement plan

Presenting plan to management and recommending means of obtaining required facilities such as contracting with off-site vendor

Coordinating implementation of plan

Testing emergency and data processing system

Writing reports to document test results

Updating emergency recovery procedures on a regular basis

Proficient in design, development, implementation and testing effective business continuity plans (BCP) including incident management plan (IMP) and disaster recovery plan (DRP) Knowledge of performing back-up operations

Well-versed with BCM concepts such as Business Impact Analysis (BIA), Risk Assessment (RA) Knowledge of emergency response planning, IT disaster recovery planning, etc

Well-versed with recovery strategies

Proficient in installing new/rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc

Knowledge of repairing and recovering from hardware or software failures

Current Trends of IT & ITeS Sector in India

In 2012, the Indian IT & ITeS sector crossed the US$100 billion milestone; it grew by almost 1,000 times in the last two decades on the basis of cost arbitration, skill availability and government support. The sector is estimated to grow at an 11.5 percent CAGR over 2008-2013 to reach US$108.4 billion. The IT & ITeS industry is expected to reach US$300 billion by 2020 driven by rising demand in domestic market, along with increasing IT Services exports. The CAGR for 2013-2020 is estimated to be 16 percent.

In the IT Exports segment, a large portion of the workforce is currently engineers and MCAs over 80%. The proportion of graduates of science and other streams engaged in software development is expected to show significant increase from about 5% to 10% currently to about 15% to 20%.The Indian IT and ITeS Industry would record about US $ 220 billion in exports and US $ 60 billion domestically by 2022, totaling to about US $ 260 billion growing at a CAGR of 12.8%.

The sector provides indirect employment to about 9.5 million people. The sector is expected to employ about 5.1 million professionals directly in FY22 and exports are likely to continue to dominate.This would definitely lead to an increase in employment opportunities of Data Recovery Planner across towns and cities in India.
