Minimum Post-graduate with specialization in Paediatric Dentistry

Minimum experience of 1 to 4 yearsis required

The tasks a Paediatric Dentist is expected to perform include:

Providing dental care for infants, children and adolescents

Fabricating space maintainers designed for patients

Treating primary and secondary teeth

Constructing and placing bridges, dentures and obturating appliances suitable for growing arches

Managing patients with behavioural problems or handicapping conditions

Counselling and advising patients and family on growth and development of dental problems of the patient

Providing preventive services through use of fluorides and sealants

Instructing patient and family members on dental care

Efficient in examining teeth and diagnosing patients' dental conditions by using tools such as X-rays

Proficient in assessing treatment options and agreeing on treatment plans with patients

Skilled in restoring teeth affected by decay, and treating gum disease

Efficient in maintaining patients' dental records

Equipped to manage budgets and maintain stocks of equipment

Knowledge of new developments through structured continuing professionaleducation

Not required
